Obituary for Monico Rodriguez
Monico Rodriguez, age 87, of Bridgeport, loving husband of 60 years to Carmen Curbelo Rodriguez, passed peacefully on Friday December 22, 2017. Born in Quebradillas, Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Jose and Maria Aviles Rodriguez. A Bridgeport resident for 46 years, he worked at Sprague Meter for 17 years and also worked for the City of Bridgeport for four years in the maintenance department before retiring. He enjoyed gardening and music and loved to play dominoes. He was a former sergeant of arms for Knights of Columbus St. Charles Counsel. He was a member of the marriage encounters group and a member of the Cursillo of St. Anthony of Padua Church.
Survivors include his children Carmen and her husband Juan Febles, Lawrence Rodriguez and his wife Karen, Joseph Rodriguez and his wife Sylvia, Victor Rodriguez and his wife Doreen, Ruben Rodriguez and his wife Susan, Carmen Anna and her husband Angel Munoz. Special thanks to his granddaughter and caregiver Cita Febles, Judy, Adri, Pilar, Nicolas, Amanda, Cristina, Victor, Joey, Monica, Jennifer, Ruben, Valerie, Angel, Eric, great-grandchildren Caitlyn, Emily, Abel, who all lived with their grandparents, Victor Jr., Livi, Mia, Evelyn and Jonathan, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Juana Jimenez and Anna Rodriguez.
Calling hours will take place on Tuesday December 26, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Commerce Hill Funeral Home, 4798 Main St., Bridgeport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. Charles Church, Bridgeport followed by interment in Park Cemetery, Bridgeport.
