Obituary for James Sokolich
James M. Sokolich, age 88 of Easton, CT, loving husband to June Ohlandt Sokolich, passed away peacefully on Friday March 17, 2017. Born in Weehawken, NJ he was the son of the late William Sokolich and Mary Tabacchi Sokolich. Jim was a long time resident of Cliffside Park, NJ, and a graduate of Cliffside Park High School. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and under the GI Bill, he took classes at Columbia University and became an Electrical Engineer. He worked at Dumont Labs, Bendix, and Allied Signal and retired from the Honeywell Corporation in 1993.
He was a longtime summer resident of Hopatcong NJ and was active in the Star class sailboat racing organization ISCYRA as well as a member of the Lake Hopatcong Yacht Club. James leaves behind his son, Mark Sokolich, daughter-in-law, Annemarie, grandchildren, Max and Ian, as well as a red haired dachshund named Ruby, all of Easton, CT.
Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday March 23, 2017 at 10am in Notre Dame of Easton Church, 655 Morehouse Road, Easton followed by interment in Madonna Cemetery, Fort Lee, NJ. at 1pm. In abiding with his wishes calling hours have been omitted. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Notre Dame of Easton Church in memory of James.
