Obituary for Costis Costanta
Costis Costanta age 89 of Bridgeport, beloved husband 0f 63 years to Frosso Costanta died peacefully on Tuesday February 28, 2017 with his loving family by his side. Born in Achna-Famagusta, Cyprus to the late George and Antonia Costanta. Costis immigrated to England in 1951 and left for the U.S. in 1969. A resident of Bridgeport for over 48 years, he was a former employee of Bead Chain and Cable. An active and devoted member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, he assisted in the church athletic department. A private individual, he enjoyed walking along St. Mary’s by the Sea and offering his help to everyone who asked.
In addition to his wife Frosso, he is survived by his daughter Georgia Costanta, grandson Costas Costanta, both of Bridgeport, three sisters; Anastasia Gergiou of England, Magtha Tsindos of Cyprus, Androula Lambrakis of Cyprus, a brother Kiriako Constantas of England, several nieces and nephews. Costis was predeceased by his son Anthony Costanta. A special thanks to the staff at the Jewish Home, Boylan House, for their care and compassion for Uncle Gus.
Calling hours will take place on Thursday March 2, 2017 from 4pm to 7pm in the Commerce Hill Funeral Home, 4798 Main St. Bridgeport, with Trisagion services at 6pm in the funeral home. The Rite of Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11am in Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 4070 Park Ave. Bridgeport with Fr. Georgios Livaditis Presbyter officiating followed by interment in Mt. Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport.
