Obituary for Evelyn Marcinczyk
Evelyn Marcinczyk, 94, of Bridgeport, passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2017, at St. Joseph's Manor in Trumbull. Although born in Danbury, she was a Bridgeport resident her entire life. Her childhood, youth and early adulthood were spent in the South End of Bridgeport. She went to Sacred Heart Elementary School and graduated from Central High School. At age 30, she (with husband and kids) moved to Priscilla Street in northwest Bridgeport. She lived at the same address for the next 58 years.
Evelyn was the devoted wife of Joseph S. (Chris) Marcinczyk for 54 years until his passing in 1996. She is also predeceased by one son, William, and his wife, Joan. Evelyn is survived by three sons, Joseph (wife Francine); John (Linda); and Donald (Barbara); 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. There are some nieces and nephews but needless to say, at her age, she is predeceased by many friends and family.
A caring and dedicated mother, Evelyn was not, however, a stay-at-home mom. She worked at Remington, Warner, Sikorsky, Shick and Norden and even worked some part-time jobs in her golden years. Always busy, she was, however, able to get in some travel later in life. Evelyn will be missed by many.
Friends may call on Friday, March 3rd between 4pm and 7pm at Commerce Hill Radozycki Funeral Home, 4798 Main St, Bridgeport. A funeral service will be held at St Andrew Church, 435 Anton St, Bridgeport at 10am Saturday, March 4th, followed by burial in St. Thomas Cemetery, Fairfield.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children’s' Hospital, a favorite of Evelyn.
